Southeast Queens residents are invited to participate in a town hall meeting at York College hosted by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand on Wednesday, Aug. 31. The public event will cover a wide range of important issues from the Inflation Reduction Act to the infrastructure bill to the PACT bill and immigration.

Constituents will be able to voice their concerns and let Gillibrand know which issues are among the most pressing in the borough. Members of her constituency services will also be available for those seeking help from the senator’s office.

“I’m very excited to talk to Queens residents about their most pressing needs,” Gillibrand said. “It’s extremely important that elected officials take the time to do events like this town hall and listen to our constituents’ concerns so that we are able to craft legislation that addresses the needs of the community.”

The town hall meeting will take place at the second-floor auditorium at York College, located at 94-20 Guy R. Brewers Blvd., from 5 to 6:00 p.m. with doors opening at 4:30 p.m.

CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez was at York College on Aug. 25 to greet students, faculty and staff returning to the Jamaica campus.

“The pandemic tested our city and our university system but we are coming back stronger than ever,” Matos Rodriguez said. “CUNY is celebrating unprecedented financial support from state leaders and we are offering our students the flexibility they need to succeed, including in-person, hybrid and online classes. We also hired more full-time faculty and our adjuncts received a much-needed pay raise. This academic year will be better than the pre-pandemic ‘normal’ at all our campuses.”

Matos Rodríguez also surprised York College President Dr. Berenecea Johnson Eanes with a birthday cake on the same day classes got underway.
