A teenager in Flushing learned a costly lesson this summer when he left his property unattended inside a Union Street eatery.

Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing reports the 18-year-old man was inside T-Swirl Crepe, located at 40-08 Union St., when an unidentified man entered just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12.

He noticed the teen’s backpack nearby and reached inside removing the victim’s wallet, according to authorities. A police spokesperson couldn’t say what the wallet contained, but the investigation is considered to be grand larceny.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.

The NYPD released a surveillance photo of the suspect on Aug. 25 in which the suspect can be seen wearing a white baseball cap, a dark T-shirt, and blue shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
