A man was critically injured by a hit-and-run driver in Woodside on Friday night, Aug. 19.

Police from the 108th Precinct in Long Island City responded to a 911 call about a pedestrian struck in the vicinity of Broadway and 64th Street just before 9 p.m. when they discovered the 63-year-old victim unconscious and unresponsive, lying in the roadway with head trauma. EMS responded to the call and rushed the man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens, where he is in critical condition, police said.

A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined the pedestrian was attempting to cross Broadway from the northwest corner of 64th Street to the southwest corner in the marked crosswalk when a light-colored vehicle traveling eastbound on Broadway struck him.

The driver did not remain on the scene and was last seen heading eastbound on Broadway. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
