A Queens Village man was killed when he lost control of his car and crashed after suffering a “medical episode” in Corona Monday evening, Sept. 26, according to the NYPD.

Jorge Peguero, 38, of 210th Street, was behind the wheel of an SUV when he slammed into a parked vehicle at around 7:20 p.m., police said. Officers from the 115th Precinct in Jackson Heights responded to a 911 call regarding the collision at the intersection of 106th Street and 34th Avenue and found Peguero in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer unconscious and unresponsive.

EMS arrived at the scene and rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that Peguero was traveling westbound on 34th Avenue and approaching the intersection of 106th Street when he suffered a “medical episode” and veered to the right, striking the front side of a parked and unoccupied 2013 Hyundai Elantra on the northeast corner of the intersection.

The Chevy Trailblazer continued westbound before colliding with a fence at 105-19 34th Ave. and coming to a rest.

The investigation is ongoing.
