The Richmond Hill Block Association held its 47th annual park fair at Forest Park on Saturday, Sept. 24. Several different kinds of entertainment was available at the fair.

The fair featured food, carnival rides and games, music, raffles, vendors, an old car show, a free Zumba class and a dance recital, allowing for a fun afternoon for the whole family.

In addition to community residents taking in the Richmond Hill Block Association park fair, several local officials turned up and addressed the crowd at the event. Councilwomen Lynn Schulman and Joann Ariola both discussed the significance of the event after the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to Schulman, 2022 marked the first time the park fair was held since before the pandemic, back in 2019.

“This is such an important event, it’s so important to have community,” Schulman said. “Community is really important. We live in a time when it’s been a problem to get everybody together and it’s so important for us to be here. I am here to represent you. We really welcome you being a part of this and being a part of this great Queens community.”

“It’s so great to be here, celebrating again,” Ariola said, “celebrating Richmond Hill, having a taste of Richmond Hill and all its arts and culture and food and all its wonderful rides for our kids.”
