Two Queens men pleaded guilty to sex trafficking children and forcing female victims to have sex with strangers for cash at the JFK Inn Hotel in Jamaica, according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.
Tyrone “Angel” Miles, 32, of 110th Avenue in Jamaica, pleaded guilty to two counts of sex trafficking of a child Wednesday, Oct. 5. Bryant “Dollaz” Lowery, 24, of 141st Avenue in Springfield Gardens, also pleaded guilty to one count of sex trafficking of a child and one count of sex trafficking.
According to reports, the duo held two victims, ages 16 and 17, at the JFK Inn Hotel between June 5, 2020, and June 12, 2020, threatening them with physical harm. Miles threatened to kill the 16-year-old if she did not engage in sexual acts for money and was forced to tell the customers she was an adult. The girls were held in separate rooms. The defendants also monitored the victims in the rooms to prevent them from leaving and collected all the money. The 16-year-old escaped when Miles briefly left her alone, fleeing to a store to contact her family.
Lowery and a third defendant, Khalil Fryer, who is currently serving a sentence of five years, held a 19-year-old victim against her will on June 19, 2020. According to Katz, the victim asked a customer for help and managed to escape from her hotel room. But Fryer found the victim, forced her into a car then beat her for leaving. The following day, one of the victims managed to flag down a police officer for assistance.
“Holding accountable those who choose to torment and degrade their victims for profit is why our Human Trafficking Bureau is so important,” Katz said. “In pleading guilty, these two defendants have accepted responsibility for forcing underage victims to perform sexual acts to line their own pockets. I commend the young complainants for their bravery, and both defendants will now face prison time as punishment for their criminal actions.”
Supreme Court Justice Peter Vallone indicated he would sentence Miles to serve seven years in jail, followed by 10 years post-release supervision, and Lowery to serve six years in jail followed by 10 years post-release supervision at their sentencing on Nov. 16. They will also be required to register as sex offenders.
