Stop & Shop announced the completion of the newly renovated stores in Maspeth and Glendale as part of the $140 million investment across its New York City locations.
Both stores will now have a wide variety of cultural products to choose from, which will more accurately reflect the diverse makeup of the neighborhoods they are in.
The Maspeth store, located at 74-17 Grand Ave., will now have more than 1,500 additional mutlicultural products that include new Asian items such as J-Basket Boba Kits and Lotte Choco Pies. It will also feature an elevated assortment of Latin dairy and grocery items with brands like El Exquisito Sabor desserts and Van Camps canned fish and expanded Halal options.
The Glendale store, located at 6466 Myrtle Ave., made aisle one a multicultural section nwith nearly 1,000 new ethic products with Latin dairy, as well as Puerto Rican and Caribbean products such as Kikuet Empanadillas, Rovira Export Crackers and Tropical cheeses and dairy.
Both stores will also have more sale bins and special deals. Maspeth and Glendale are also now the first Stop & Shop locations in Queens to offer the Flashfood mobile app. The app gives customers access to produce, meat, dairy, and other grocery items nearing their best-buy date at discounts up to 50% off.
“Our customers are thrilled by the enhancements we’ve made at the stores so far, especially the expanded ethnic products,” said Al Steiger, Stop & Shop District Director. “Queens is the most ethnically diverse borough in New York City and we’re proud to bring products from around the world to the ‘world’s borough.’”
To celebrate the remodels, Stop & Shop donated $2,500 to Queens Center for Progress, one of Stop & Shop’s longtime partners. QCP assists children and adults who have developmental disabilities, supporting their incependence and community involvement. Stop & Shop employs clients of QCP at its stores.
The remodeled stores will also include modern decor, expanded deli assortments, enhanced produce department, a remodeled bakery and more meat, seafood and frozen food goods.
