Cops cuff suspect in knifepoint robbery, sexual abuse incident in Dutch Kills

Police on Thursday, Nov. 17, announced the arrest of a suspect who is believed to have robbed a woman at knifepoint as she was riding the M train in Dutch Kills on Friday, Nov. 11, according to NYPD. 

Police say that Abel Pita-Aviles, 36, approached the 24-year-old victim just after 8:30 a.m. on the northbound M and allegedly pulled out a knife, demanding her property. The woman complied, handing over her cell phone and approximately $50 in cash, after which Pita-Aviles allegedly grabbed both of her breasts over her clothing before bolting off the train as it arrived at the 36th Street subway station, according to authorities.

Pita-Aviles, of 67th Avenue in Rego Park, was charged with robbery, sexually motivated robbery, forcible touching, menacing, sexual abuse and harassment.
