A subway rider was assaulted and robbed early Tuesday morning, Nov. 8, at an Ozone Park subway station.

The 63-year-old man was on the mezzanine level of the 104th Street station on the A subway line just before 4:30 a.m. when an unidentified man approached him and grabbed his backpack. The victim followed the suspect and tried to get his property back when suddenly the assailant punched him in the face before running off, police said. The backpack contained the victim’s clothing, miscellaneous papers, and medication.

The NYPD released surveillance video that shows the victim tossing the backpack to the curb as he ran away from the scene. He wore a gray and white jacket, blue jeans and dark sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
