Homicide detectives out of the 113th Precinct in Jamaica re-released video of a suspect wanted in connection to a heinous murder of a mother in South Jamaica back in 2021, hoping to catch a break in the investigation before it becomes a cold case in December.
In a fatal shooting that shocked Southeast Queens just days before Christmas, a gunman was seen in a chilling surveillance video approaching 39-year-old Dawn Peterson in front of her home at 155-37 Foch Blvd. after she started her car at 6:21 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 17.
The suspect fired multiple shots, striking the mother of two in her chest and back, even when she was in a prone position on the roadway. The suspect drove away from the crime scene in a silver sedan that had been parked at 155th Street near 116th Drive, police said.
EMS responded to the location and rushed Peterson to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Crime scene investigators collected evidence, including seven shell casings. The gunman has remained at large for more than two-and-a-half years and the investigation remains ongoing.
An NYPD spokeswoman told QNS on Thursday that the surveillance videos were re-released to see if it would spark a memory of the fatal shooting that morning.
The suspect is described as approximately 5’10” tall with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a black hooded bubble jacket and blue jeans.
