Queens Community Board 5—which represents Ridgewood, Maspeth, Middle Village and Glendale—will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 12, with important discussions on the agenda.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria of Christ the King High School, located at 68-02 Metropolitan Ave. in Middle Village. According to District Manager Gary Giordano, the agenda will include a Public Hearing regarding the Fiscal Year 2026 Preliminary Budget of New York City as put forth by Mayor Eric Adams, especially as it affects the CB5 communities.

The FY26 Preliminary Budget is $114.5 billion, with gaps of $4.2 billion in FY27, $5.4 billion in FY28 and $5.1 billion in FY29, which are all lower than at the November 2024 Financial Plan Update.

The key investment points of the Budget are keeping New Yorkers safe, making New York City more affordable, investing in education for New York City children, improving quality of life and promoting economic development.

“Strong fiscal management, combined with our investments in making this a safer, more affordable city, is allowing us to make New York City the best place to raise a family,” Mayor Adams said.

“Our administration set the table for success by saving billions in taxpayer dollars, and now we are able to ensure the continuity of critical programs, as well as make the new, strategic investments that will move our city forward and improve quality of life for all New Yorkers without cutting services, laying off city employees or raising taxes by a single penny.”

The CB5 meeting agenda also includes a discussion and vote regarding Proposed 2025 Street Festivals in the local area, the Public Forum, a review of current applications for Alcoholic Beverage Licenses, a review of Building Demolition Notices and Committee Reports. Vincent Arcuri’s Chairperson Report will cover many of these details.

Individual speaking time will be limited to two or three minutes per person, depending on the number of speakers. Anyone wanting to address the Board during the Public Hearing or the Public Forum must pre-register by contacting the Board Office at 718-366-1834 or qn05@cb.nyc.gov. They can also register to speak at the podium before the meeting begins. The number of speakers may be limited.

The Public Hearing and meeting will also be live-streamed on YouTube. Afterward, people can watch and listen by visiting the Board’s website here

The board will conclude the meeting with a discussion on old and new business.
