Insomnia Cookies, a popular bakery chain known for serving warm cookies late into the night, is opening its first Queens location this weekend in Fresh Meadows.
The grand opening will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at 176-69 Union Turnpike. The site was previously occupied by an insurance firm and sits near the busy intersection of Union Turnpike and 178th Street, in a shopping strip that includes a pizzeria, beauty salon and other local retailers.
The new store marks a major milestone for the brand, which has more than 250 locations nationwide but, until now, had not opened in Queens. To celebrate, customers who sign up for Insomnia Rewards in-store on May 17 will receive one free classic cookie with no purchase required.
The Fresh Meadows storefront will offer in-store service, pickup and delivery options. After the grand opening, regular hours will run until 1 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and until 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Insomnia Cookies was founded in 2003 and has since developed a loyal following for its late-night menu of cookies, brownies, and ice cream. The Fresh Meadows opening brings the brand’s signature warm treats to a new corner of New York City, just steps from St. John’s University and along a well-traveled stretch of Union Turnpike.
