Bette S. Weidman, Ph.D., Associate Professor of English and Director of American Studies at Queens College (CUNY), will discuss the poetry of the famed American author Herman Melville, best known for his novels Moby-Dick, Billy Budd, Typee, and other works, but who was also arguably the first modernist poet in the United States.

A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
