In honor of St. Joseph’s Day we will be preparing a St. Joseph Table (La Tavola di San Giuseppe). Having its origins in Sicily, this centuries-old celebration is a symbolic “thank you” marking the end of a dreadful famine and serves as a renewal of the Italian people’s devotion to St. Joseph. The focal piece on the topmost step of the table, is a statue of St. Joseph, complemented by flowers and breads baked in shapes of a staff, a carpenter's implement, and the cross.
