Hillcrest High School has been named a 1999-2000 New York State Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the state Education Department.
The Blue Ribbon School of Excellence designation was created in 1982 by the secretary of state to give public recognition to outstanding schools across the state and the nation. The competition is open for all high schools and middle schools.
Past recipients of the coveted award have included Forest Hills High School, John Bowne HS, and Martin Van Buren.
