St. Albans Family Day a success

The sixth annual St. Albans Park Family Day celebration was held on Saturday, July 21 as hundreds of Queens residents, young and old, enjoyed a fun-filled event featuring entertainment, health screenings, rides and food.
Sponsored by Councilmember Leroy Comrie, with the support of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and the Southern Queens Park Association, the event is designed to urge the community to come together to participate in events that will foster family unity.
“Family Day is an opportunity to celebrate the special bonds that exists between parents and their children,” said Comrie. “Today we get our youth away from the television and out into the park to exercise their bodies and minds.”
In addition to a barbecue extravaganza, Family Day featured numerous rides and attractions, such as the Black Cowboy Federation and WBLS radio personality Dr. Bob Lee.
Comrie will be hosting two additional Family Days on August 11 at Wayanda Park and on August 25 at Liberty/Det. Keith Williams Park. For more information about these events, call 718-776-3700.
