Family feuding for six-figures

The Brown family feuded for a six-figure prize this fall.

The Woodside residents appeared in three episodes of the 13th season of “The Family Feud,” which premiered on Monday, September 12 at 2 p.m. on WWOR, channel 9.

On the Brown’s side of the stage was Quinn, a graduate student at New York University, his father Gary, a network support technician, Grandmother Marion, Aunt Sharon and Uncle Johnny.

The “survey said” big bucks for the Browns, as they took home over $20,000 in cash.

“Auditions for ‘The Feud’ were the same weekend as my college graduation, so we decided to audition while everyone was together,” said Quinn, 22. “We want to share the money with our church, family and education. I just started grad school this fall, so the money will most certainly come in handy.”

The Browns had the opportunity to earn up to $100,000 if they won the fast money round five consecutive times, with each victory giving them $20,000. The family also could have won a brand-new car if they were able to reach the bonus round five shows in a row. Ultimately, the Browns won fast money in their first attempt, failed in the second and were eliminated by their opponents on their third apperance.

“We weren’t mad that we lost the third day,” Quinn said. “To have been on the show three days and won over $20,000 was enough for us. When we won fast money in the first show, we had already reached our goal. More money or the car would have been great, but we were very happy when we left.”

Along with winning money and experiencing the thrill of taping a nationally-televised show, the Browns also mingled with one of the original “Kings of Comedy,” Feud host Steve Harvey.

“To meet Steve Harvey was the chance of a lifetime,” Quinn said. “He was very funny, personable and family oriented. I consider it a great honor to have made it on the show and made it past auditions, and it was a great honor to meet Steve. It was awesome being on television also. It was a little nerve-racking at first, but the producers were very helpful. Overall, the experience was unforgettable.”
