Police capture armed robbery suspect using stolen iPhone’s tracking technology

105 Pct Robbery Arrest

An armed robber was recently captured after being under an “iCloud” of suspicion.

Darrius Lee, 19, of Jamaica, was arrested on Thursday, February 2 for the armed theft of a wallet, iPhone and iPad.

Lee approached the 27-year-old victim with a gun, striking him in the head before demanding and taking his property, police said.

After police responded, officers were able to track the suspect’s location using the iCloud application on the victim’s phone.

Police surrounded the suspect’s house and were able to apprehend him when he attempted to flee.  A loaded 380 caliber Hi Point semi-automatic was recovered.

Lee was charged with first degree robbery, assault, menacing and resisting arrest.

The victim was treated by EMS on the scene for bruising to the head and released.
