Asian cuisine at its best

Asian Terrace serves amazing Asian fusion fare in The Bay Terrace shopping center in Bayside. It has a spectacular setting and delicious dishes.

The handsome wooden doors open onto a large space whose focal point is a gorgeous fountain. The interior, which was formerly the site of the restaurant Tofu, has been completely redone, from the unique painted floors to the gentle lighting emanating from handsome fixtures. The colors and tones are subdued, allowing the brightly colored fountain to to be the centerpiece of the room.

In the rear is a sushi bar featuring a seascape mural. There is a handsome, well-stocked bar at the front that allows for drinking or dining.

Friends joined us so we could sample multiple dishes. We began our meal with traditional edamame, a nice accompaniment to our drinks. We also enjoyed fall-off-the-bone tender Asian baby back ribs smoked with jasmine tea. Their Cajun seared white tuna with a creamy red wine tarragon sauce had an added flavor of fig truffle and soy. It was a unique and delicious combination.

As a cold appetizer we also enjoyed the seven spice salmon, which is prepared with black and green olives, asparagus, pine nuts, mango jelly and gochujang miso sauce. So different and so good!

There are multiple soups offered, with my favorite being the seafood miso, chock full of shrimp, scallops and clams.

We shared some of the chef’s special rolls. Different and delicious was the Eensy Weensy, soft shell crab tempura with avocado and topped with spicy, crunchy kani masago and sweet soy.

There are old favorites like sesame chicken done with just the right crispness, and the best fried rice with pulled pork I ever ate! We also enjoyed the crispy red snapper.

Of course we couldn’t resist dessert. A creamy tartufo was so good it disappeared minutes after it was served.

The warm and friendly owner and her staff are welcoming and professional in their service.

The restaurant offers free delivery, so whether you experience the stunning setting or eat at your home or office, try Asian Terrace, you’ll love it. It is, as they claim, Asian cuisine at its best!
