FAR ROCKAWAY — A knife-wielding man allegedly ripped off a cellphone store in Far Rockaway earlier this month, police said.

The suspect, described as in his 20s, walked into a Metro PCS store on Beach Channel Drive Aug. 14 and asked to see a phone, according to the NYPD.

But then he walked behind the counter, allegedly threatened the 22-year-old clerk with a kitchen knife and swiped seven phones and a wad of cash, police said.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance, and police are hoping the public can identify the culprit, authorities said.

Those with information should contact NYPD’s Crimestoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting its website at nypdcrimestoppers.com or texting 274637 (CRIMES) and entering TIP577.
