Police ID officer killed in motorcycle accident

SOUTH JAMAICA — An off-duty police officer was killed in a motorcycle accident in South Jamaica Monday evening, police said.

Authorities said the 28-year-old officer, identified by police as Curtis Johnson, was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson on Linden Boulevard near 158th Street just before 5 p.m. when his bike collided with a 1998 Chrysler Concorde sedan, making a left turn onto 158th Street.

The officer, who worked at the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica and had been on the force for about two years, was knocked off the bike, which then hit a 2002 Nissan Altima on Linden Boulevard, according to the NYPD.

Emergency responders were called to the intersection, and the police officer was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Both the 25-year-old Chrysler driver and the 43-year-old Nissan driver stayed at the scene of the accident, police said.

No arrests had been made and the investigation into the fatality was ongoing, according to cops.
