Men rescued from inlet near Breezy Point: NYPD

By Sarina Trangle

Police pulled two fishermen out of the Rockaway Inlet near Breezy Point Monday afternoon and the two were then treated for hypothermia, the NYPD said.

The Police Department said its harbor patrol found a 38-year-old and an 18-year-old beside their overturned kayak at 1:40 p.m.

The NYPD later determined the pair had flipped the craft while out fishing and the 38-year-old had injured his arm with a fishing hook while unsuccessfully attempting to right the kayak.

The men were in the water for about 15 minutes before the patrol unit saw them and brought them to a Kingsborough Community College floating dock for hypothermia treatment, according to the NYPD.

Police said both men were in stable condition.
