Father charged with murdering son before attempting suicide: Police

By Alex Robinson

A Flushing father allegedly strangled his 8-year-old son in their home Sunday night before attempting to take his own life, police said.

Police found Boujeke Kenmoe, 41, lying on the ground in front of the bathroom with injuries to both his wrists after responding to a 911 call, according to the NYPD.

The boy was found unconscious on a bed in a rear bedroom in a multi-family home on Underhill Avenue , police said. The child did not have visible injuries, but Kenmoe told responding officers he had strangled the boy, according to the authorities.

The father was taken to New York Hospital Queens to be treated for his own injuries and was later arrested on a second-degree murder charge, police said.

Neighbors said Kenmoe seemed like a nice father who would often walk his son to school.

“To me, he seemed like a loving father,” said James Lana, a neighbor who lives down the block. “Whenever I saw him taking him to school, they were holding hands.”
