Second arrest made in D’aja Robinson shooting: DA

By Alex Robinson

Police arrested a second suspect in the 2013 shooting of D’aja Robinson, a 14-year-old girl who was sitting on a bus in South Jamaica when a bullet struck her in the head, Queens district attorney said Thursday.

Shamel Capers, 16, of Brooklyn, was charged with second-degree murder Wednesday night, the DA said.

Capers allegedly shot multiple rounds at a Q6 bus which D’aja had just boarded on her way home from a Sweet 16 birthday party, according to a criminal complaint filed by the DA’s office.

Kevin McClinton, 22, who was arrested in South Carolina a month after the girl’s death, allegedly took the gun from Capers and continued shooting into the bus.

“By their alleged actions, these two defendants showed a wanton disregard for human life and now face up to life in prison,” Brown said.
