BRIARWOOD – Police were searching for a man they said tried to rape a young woman in Briarwood the evening of Sept. 24.

The man, who police described as Asian, 5-foot-5 and 140 pounds, allegedly approached the 26-year-old victim on Daniels Street before throwing her to the ground and saying he was going to rape her, according to cops. She managed to fight him off and the suspect ran off, but left one of his sneakers behind, police said.
