Transit group plans rally against SBS

By Gabriel Rom

The Queens Public Transit Committee, a group strongly opposed to planned select bus service lines, will hold a rally this Sunday at 3 p.m. on Woodhaven Boulevard and Queens Boulevard at Hoffman Drive in Elmhurst. The rally, dubbed “Transportation for Everyone,” will protest the expected lane reductions and left-turn eliminations on Woodhaven Boulevard as a result of SBS’s implementation. “There are so many alternatives that the DOT doesn’t want to look at,” said Eugene Falik a member of the group.

“We believe that the SBS is going to punish the overwhelming majority of the population and its benefits will be negligible. On the other hand, advocates believes that the rail solution will benefit everybody.”
