BWG teams victorious in weekend tournaments

Both the boys and girls teams of the Blau Weiss Gottschee (BWG) soccer club had success over the weekend in their respective tournaments.

The BWG U10 Royals took home second place in the 2015 North Hempstead Cup. On the road to second place, the BWG U10 Royals were victorious against New Hyde Park by a score of 2-1, they defeated Woodhaven United 8-4 and tied Valley Stream 3-3.

The BWG U8 Blue team was excited to play in the Brooklyn Italians Columbus Day Tournament this weekend.

On Saturday, the boys played very well against the host team, the Brooklyn Italians. The teams ended the first half tied, but in the second half the U8 Blue team’s offense exploded and they beat the Brooklyn Italians by the score of 10-3. Also on Saturday, they played Silver Lake from Staten Island and defeated them 7-0 to advance to the next day’s games.

On Sunday, the boys beat Holmdel by a score of 3-1 to advance to the finals where they beat Boca Jr. 8-4 to capture the championship.

The BWG 2004 Sky team won first place in the North Hempstead Cup. On the way to the title, the girls beat New Hyde Park, Albertson and Manhasset.

The Pre Academy U13s and U15s traveled to Manheim, PA, for a pre-academy showcase. The U15s won their first game against Philly Union 2-1, tied PA Classics 1-1 and finished the showcase with another tie against DC United 1-1. The U13s won against NJCSA 2-1, lost to NYSC 4-3 and finished with a win against Leighey Valley 1-0.

The academy teams were all victorious as they traveled to Boston, MA. The U14s won 4-0, U16s won 2-1 and U18s won 4-0.
