Adults and children of all ages gathered for Halloween fun at Julia’s Beer and Wine Bar last week during their first “Drink and Carve” pumpkin carving contest.

The jack-o-lantern party on Oct. 22 featured family-friendly portion where children and parents dressed up in their Halloween costumes and decorated pumpkins with paint, markers and sparkles.

The grown-up fun began at 9 p.m. when adults competed for the title of best carved pumpkin, as well as a four-pack of Pumking Beer by Southern Tier Brewery. The winning pumpkin belonged to Richard Callender of Middle Village and featured a bat signal design from “Batman.”

The scary fun continues at Julia’s with their costume contest on Halloween day, starting at 4 p.m. Prizes and ribbons will be awarded for the scariest, most original and gruesome Halloween costume.
