How do the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals match up heading into to the World Series which starts tonight?

The Mets are led by a group of talented young starting pitchers in Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz, all of whom are known to throw heat across the plate. Their fastballs top out at 95 mph and higher almost every night they throw.

The Royals offense, meanwhile, is known to thrive on fastballs with great success. Their lineup, which includes the speedy outfielder Lorenzo Cain, third baseman Mike Moustakas, all-star catcher Salvator Perez and first baseman Eric Hosmer, has struck out fewer times than any other team in the league and is known for making contact with the ball.

This chart shows some of the prime offensive stats between the Mets and Royals in both the regular season and postseason this year. The World Series figures to be a showdown of two irresistible forces in the league– and, by all appearances, one that Mets and Royals fans won’t soon forget, no matter who wins.
