A new hotel near the Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City will span 16 stories, according to plans filed with the Department of Buildings.

Flushing-based Ampiera Group is developing the 16,140-square-foot site at 38-70 12th St. The 139-room hotel will sit in a narrow, heavily industrialized road that also houses a laundromat and Friendship Baptist Church. It also sits one block away from the largest housing project in North America, Queensbridge Houses.

Plans show that the first and 16th floors will be occupied by restaurants and each of the remaining floors will have 10 to 11 rooms each. An open parking lot with five spots will also be constructed and an underground garage will have enough room for 27 cars. The entire project totals 80,387 square feet of commercial space.

A Howard Johnson Hotel that was completed in 2014 sits right across the street from this site.

My Architect PC, an architecture firm based in Flushing, will design the project.
