Riding his skateboard through Woodhaven proved deadly for an 18-year-old male who was struck and killed by a Parks Department truck on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

The fatal accident occurred at 1:33 p.m. at the intersection of Forest Parkway and Park Lane South.

According to authorities, the skateboarder — whose identity was not released pending family notification — was rolling southbound along Forest Parkway when he collided with a 2006 Ford truck operated by the Parks Department traveling westbound on Park Lane South.

The 37-year-old truck driver stopped the vehicle and remained at the scene following the accident.
