As the Knockdown Center prepares to open up two brand-new bar spaces, the arts and events venue will be hosting the first-ever Maspeth Craft Beer Festival and Wine Tasting, presented the Kiwanis Club of Maspeth on Friday, June 3.

The festival, which will run from 6 to 10 p.m., will bring in more than 20 different local and national breweries that will be giving out samples of their finest beers, wines and ciders.

“Big Alice Brewery, Bridge and Tunnel Brewery and The Radiant Pig Brewery are going to be involved as far as local brewers,” said Glenn Rudzewick of the Maspeth Kiwanis. “In addition, we are partnering up with some national brands such Brooklyn Brewery and Sam Adams. In addition, there will be wine tasting with Raphael Wines from the North Fork. Also, Strong Bow Cider will be offering tastings as well.”

Drinks won’t be the only thing available for tasting at the festival, as food vendors such as Knot of this World Pretzels and Ho’Brah Tacos will be there selling some of their tastiest treats.

Tickets for the festival are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. Each ticket holder will receive a tasting glass to take around with them and try all of the samplings from the vendors.

There will also be a special designated driver ticket for $10. A designated driver ticket holder will receive free water and soda. Designated drivers do not receive a tasting glass with their tickets and are not permitted to sample any beer.

Anyone with a designated driver ticket seen drinking will be removed from the festival immediately. All ticket holders must be 21+ and present valid photo ID for entry.

Hat Trick Trio will be providing live tunes for the event.

“Hat Trick Trio is a great band that have played many local venues such as Belmont Park and the Platt Duetsche Club in Franklin Square,” Rudzewick said. “They perform a huge playlist of covers that will appeal to very large audience. They play everything from the Beach Boys to Cold Play and many more.”

“All of the proceeds will go towards charities that are supported by the Kiwanis,” Rudzewick said. “The charities include scholarships, youth sports organizations, Kamp Kiwanis and several other charitable ventures that the Kiwanis is involved with.”
