Officers from the 104th Precinct’s Anti-Crime Team hit the trifecta on Sunday, May 22, as they arrested two individuals for possession of a firearm, crack cocaine and fireworks in Maspeth.

The arrests occurred at the intersection of 58th Street and 55th Drive at approximately 2:46 a.m. Sunday.

The Queens District Attorney’s office identified the individuals as Marquis Anderson, 33, and Burnett Ophelia, 30. Both men were arrested and arraigned on charges of second-degree criminal possession of a loaded weapon, first-degree possession of forged instruments, criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful sale of fireworks.

According to the criminal complaint, officers saw Anderson and Ophelia sitting inside of a white Jeep at the intersection, with Anderson holding marijuana in his lap. As they approached the vehicle, officers noticed several boxes of fireworks in the back seat of the Jeep.

When asked to exit the vehicle, officers found 50 counterfeit 100-dollar bills inside Ophelia’s pocket.

Officers also found more marijuana, 10 MDMA/Ecstasy pills and crack cocaine inside the vehicle, along with $7,800 and a loaded .45-caliber pistol.

Anderson and Ophelia are being held on $50,000 bond or $25,000 cash. They are due to appear in court again on June 6.

Captain Mark Wachter, the precinct’s commander, announced the arrest and seizure of the illegal contraband on the precinct’s Twitter account.
