Bicyclist injured after being struck by a car near Middle Village’s Juniper Valley Park

A bike-riding man is expected to make a recovery after being struck and injured by a vehicle on a street near Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village on Wednesday morning, police sources said.

The incident took place at 8:35 a.m. on Lutheran Avenue near Juniper Boulevard North.

According to authorities, the 64-year-old male victim was pedaling his bike northbound on Lutheran Avenue when he was hit by a Honda Civic that was moving into a parking space on the street.

Officers from the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Paramedics brought the bicyclist to Elmhurst Hospital for injuries to his leg that are not considered life-threatening.

No charges were filed against the unidentified driver, and an investigation is ongoing.
