Two pedophiles touched children at Bowne Playground in Flushing, and the borough's other top stories of the week.

Bowne Playground in Flushing seems to be a favorite site for pedophiles recently, as two men have preyed on young children there this month.

The most recent incident took place last Wednesday, during which 24-year-old Soloman Hudgins allegedly sexually abused a 12-year-old girl at the Bowne Playground located near the northeast corner of Sanford Avenue and Union Street. According to police, the man was arrested for sexually abusing and robbing the girl, who was meeting up with her friends.

Hudgins allegedly jumped on the child and wrongfully touched her. Prosecutors said that the girl attempted to push the pedophile away, but Hudgins pulled at her clothing, opened her shorts and sexually abused her.

When the girl tried to use her iPhone to call for help, Hudgins reportedly grabbed the phone and earbuds out of her hand and yanked off her shoes. He allegedly stole two packs of cigarettes from the girl before running off, dropping his wallet in the process.

The girl took the wallet to police and Hudgins was later slapped with first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a child.

An earlier incident occurred on Thursday, July 14, at 8 p.m. at the same playground. An unknown man approached an 8-year-old boy who was with his 34-year-old mother.

The pervert picked up the victim while grabbing and squeezing the child’s chest. The mother confronted the suspect and snapped a photo of him using her cellphone. Police described the suspect as an Asian male who speaks fluent Mandarin. He has black hair and was accompanied by a female toddler.

When asked if police have increased their presence at Bowne Playground following these attacks, an NYPD spokesperson indicated it had not taken such measures.

Children and parents should always play safely and be aware of their surroundings.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
