Queens County has been put under flash flood warning

Queens County, and other low-lying areas, have been put under a flash flood warning for the next three hours by the National Weather Service.

According to the National Weather Service, at 4:59 p.m., Doppler radar showed a large area of showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rain approaching the area. Flash flooding is expected to begin within the next hour across parts of the area and rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour are possible, with localized higher amounts.

The warning is expected to be lifted by 8 p.m.

Other areas also under this flash flood warning include Nassau County in southeastern New York, Kings County in southeastern New York, Richmond County in southeastern New York, Southern Westchester County in southeastern New York, New York County in southeastern New York, Bronx County in southeastern New York, and several parts of New Jersey.
