The American Cancer Society leased an office at the SkyView Wellness center in Flushing.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) is leasing space at the SkyView Wellness center in Flushing, a 50,000-square-foot office complex located within the Shops at Skyview Center mall.

Onex Real Estate Partners, a multi-billion dollar investment firm, revealed the signing of a 3,321-square-foot lease with ACS on Monday, July 25. The voluntary organization is set to be one of the first tenants to open when the office development debuts in August 2016. SkyView Wellness, located at 131-07 40th Road, has already leased or sold 35,000 square feet of the 50,000 square feet complex.

“SkyView Wellness’ class A office space is uniquely positioned to meet the demand from healthcare office tenants in Flushing. The office suites offer tenants the opportunity to benefit from the vast synergies that are created by SkyView’s other uses, which includes 750,000 square feet of retail shops, 1,200 luxury residential condos and 2,600 parking spaces,” said David Brickman, director at Onex Real Estate, in Quinn Public Relations’ press release on Monday. “We are excited to welcome American Cancer Society to our tenant mix and look forward to seeing them fulfill their very important mission from SkyView Wellness.”

Canossa Chan, senior market manager for community engagement at ACS, also expressed her enthusiasm toward the new location. “We are very excited that the new office is going to be at the SkyView Wellness in Flushing. It is a landmark location for Queens residents,” she told QNS. “It’s easy for people to find us and our office will be located on the Wellness level … so it will be very convenient for patients who need therapy and doctors so that is why we chose the location.”

Chan added that ACS will officially move from its Kew Gardens location to the new Flushing office on August 15. The company will also be hosting a complimentary Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Breakfast Kick-off on Thursday, August 11 at Terrace on the Park.

William P. O’Brien of M.C. O’Brien, Inc. represented ACS in the business transaction, while Onex Real Estate was supported in-house. Full details of the lease were not disclosed, but inquiries about SkyView Wellness and its remaining spaces can be sent to David Brickman by phone at 212-993-5706 or by email at DBrickman@onexrealestate.com.
