It was certainly a night to remember on Thursday, Aug. 11.

Many past and present Star Network honorees gathered at the Chateau Briand for a night of food, fun and networking with business professionals from across Long Island and Queens.

Approximately 70 people were in attendance, including Esther Fortunoff of Fortunoff Fine Jewelry, and it is easy to say that Star Network is making its mark on Long Island.

“We like to have these smaller events because we feel it’s important to have a small, one to one with new people,” said Vicki Schneps, publisher for Schneps Communications (who recently acquired Best of Long Island) , who encouraged everyone to get out of their comfort zone and sit near someone they don’t know for a new networking opportunity.

The event was sponsored by Aetna, who had a table set up by Karen Taylor. Taylor gave everyone a quick run-down on how important it is to understand Medicare, and why it’s important to know about the Medicare Advantage program.

“Aetna has recently expanded the Medicare Advantage program to Long Island,” said Taylor, “We will be hosting meetings over the next few months announcing the plans available in 2017.”

The evening was held at the beautiful Chateau Briand, located in Carle Place, which provided a stunning yet relaxed atmosphere for top businessman and women from Long Island and Queens to network and chat amongst themselves throughout the night.

“It’s an honor to have Star Network hosting the event tonight,” said Joe Mandaro, Executive Director of Corporate and Special Events for Chateau Briand and Scotto Brothers. “I’ve been honored in the past as a Long Island King and have known Vicki for 35 years, and she (as well as Star Network) is becoming the talk of the town.”

Food, cocktails, and raffles were available to all who attended the event. Raffles included Yankees tickets and a four-day, three-night trip to Cancun. A highlight of the evening included a table of gorgeous jewelry presented by Susan Mandel. Mandel showcased her Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski and provided one of the raffle prizes. Another evening highlight included an impromptu performance from Wonder Mike of the Sugarhill Gang, who was also in attendance at the event.

The night was a huge success! Star Network will be presenting the 2016 Queens Real Estate Conference with the Queens Courier, Ellipis and in association with the Real Estate Board of New York. Star Network is also currently seeking nominations for its second annual Long Island Power Women in Business Awards and Networking event. Click here to nominate a power woman.
