Celebrate the unofficial end of summer this Labor Day with these five tasty, boozy beverages.

Whether you’re at a BBQ in Bayside, relaxing in Ridgewood, lounging around in Long Island City or hitting the beach for the last time in the Rockaways, these drinks will be sure to keep the party going all night long.

Here’s five ways to chill out this weekend:

hurricanepunch

The first drink on the list is called the Hurricane, a rather appropriate choice this weekend considering Queens will soon feel the effects of a tropical storm.

This drink calls for 2 oz. light rum, 3 oz. dark rum, 6 oz. passion fruit juice, 6 oz. orange juice, 2 tbsp. grenadine, 2 orange slices, and 2 maraschino cherries.

In a large liquid measuring cup, mix first five ingredients, pour over iced-filled glass. Garnish each glass with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry. Serves two.

mojito

The second drink puts a frozen twist on a classic. The Mojito Slushies call for 1/2 c. fresh lime juice (about 4 to 6 limes), 1/4 c. agave, 1/3 c. fresh mint leaves, 2 limes zested, 1/2 c. light rum, ice, mint sprigs for garnish and lime wedges for garnish.

To make the frozen drinks add the lime juice, agave, mint leaves, lime zest, and rum to a blender. Blend until it is smooth. Fill the blender to top with ice and blend until slushy. Pour into glasses, garnishing each with a sprig of mint and a lime slice. This recipe serves four.

sangrialemonade

Cool down on Labor Day with a Sangria Lemonade. To make this drink gather 1/2 g. lemonade, 1 bottle Chardonnay or other white wine (750 ml), 2/3 c. light rum, 1/2 c. raspberries, 1 orange sliced, 1 Granny Smith apple sliced. Combine the lemonade, wine and rum in a large pitcher. Stir, then add fruit. Refrigerate for at least one hour and serve. Serves eight.

watermelonslushie

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can give this Boozy Watermelon Slushy a shot. You will need 1 small seedless watermelon halved, juice of 1 lime, 1/3 c. light coconut milk, 2 oz. rum and 1 tbsp. agave.

Scoop out rounded tablespoons of watermelon until the watermelon half is mostly hollow. Arrange scoops on a baking sheet and freeze until firm, about 3-4 hours. Reserve any accumulated juices, strain and set aside. When the watermelon is frozen, add about three-quarters of the scoops to a blender, along with coconut milk, lime juice, and agave. If you have trouble blending, slowly add some of the watermelon juice. Blend until smooth and slushy. Serve in hollowed out watermelon rinds. Serves two.

rumsunset

End the evening with a delicious Rum Sunset. For this drink, you will need 12 oz. orange juice, 3 oz. light rum, 2 tbsp. grenadine, and lime slices for garnish. Combine orange juice and rum. Set aside 1/3 of the mixture. Pour 2/3 of the orange juice mixture into 2 ice-filled glasses and set them aside. Then mix the remaining orange juice and rum with the grenadine. Slowly pour into each glass so it settles on the bottom. Garnish with lime slices and enjoy. Serves two.
