Flushing family will put their food truck’s Chinese cuisine on full display at an upcoming citywide food street vendor awards competition.

The food truck, Traditional Chinese Cuisine, is one of four contending finalists awarded the opportunity to vie for the top prize at the 12th annual Vendy Awards next weekend.


Owner Yuanzhen Wang lives in Flushing with his wife and three daughters. With the help of his family, he has been running his food truck for four years.

The truck is set up next to Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village and is a local favorite with NYU students. Wang serves up specialties inspired by his time as a chef in Henan, the central region of China where he is originally from. Fan favorites include his signature spicy lamb burgers and fresh, hand-pulled noodles.

The Vendy Awards is New York City’s leading street food competition, awarding accolades to the city’s best street vendors. This year’s event judges include New York Times food staff reporter Julia Moskin and chef and owner of The Meatball Shop, Daniel Holzman.
