By Patrick Donachie

JAMAICA — Police were seeking a suspect who shot a police officer with a BB gun Wednesday afternoon in the midst of downtown Jamaica.

One male and one female officer, both dressed in plainclothes, were driving westbound on Jamaica Avenue at about 5:11 p.m. in an unmarked police car when the male officer was struck with a BB pellet in the forehead, police said. The car was not moving at the time of the shooting, police said.

The struck officer suffered a small laceration to his forehead and was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was listed as being in stable condition, according to the NYPD. Police said the other officer was unharmed.

Police said it was still unknown where the shot came from and the incident was under investigation.
