Note-passing thief splits with $1,000 from a Long Island City bank

Police are on the hunt for a man who took off with a grand from a Long Island City bank.

At around 11:04 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, a male individual entered a Chase bank located at 25-15 Queens Plaza North. He approached the teller and passed a note that was demanding money.

The bank teller complied with the note and handed money over to the individual. The individual then fled the scene in an unknown direction with approximately $1,000 in hand.

The individual is described as a 45-year-old black man with a beard, standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighing 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a striped hat, blue sweater and black sneakers.
