Two or three more urgent care locations are coming to areas of Queens and Brooklyn this year.

“Health care is, by nature, an evolving arena, and Northwell is focused on continuing to stay ahead of that evolution,” said Adam Boll, vice president of Northwell Health Ventures Operations. “And staying ahead of the evolution of health care means paying attention to our patients and what they want and are demanding.”

The in-the-works expansion is a joint venture between GoHealth and Northwell Health. Together, the health care partners seek to open up an additional 12 Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care locations across the metro New York area in the new year. While Boll could not confirm exact locations at this time, two or three of these locations are slated for the Brooklyn and Queens area.

According to Boll, all urgent care locations are equipped to address “the minor cold through the complex flu,” as well as injuries and accidents, stitches, wound cleansing, strains, sprains, fractures, blood draws and labs, X-rays and more.

When considering places for a new location, population numbers and community need are at the forefront, Boll said.

“There’s a clinical need, without question, for urgent care,” Boll said. “We work to locate the centers where people live and work every day and make [our facilities] easy to access.”

In Queens, there are currently five urgent care locations — Astoria, Forest Hills, LeFrak City, Ridgewood, and most recently, Bayside — and 33 statewide. According to Boll, Ridgewood is one of their most active locations.

“The population density in that area is incredible,” Boll said. “Our location is convenient, and it’s positioned in a way that it’s not a burden to access.”

All of the Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care facilities provide walk-in care, with an option to preregister for a visit through the website.

“We try and set the standard being an experienced healthcare provider at a really high level,” Boll said. “And we see this business continuing to grow year over year.”
