Police are investigating the apparent suicide of a woman in Glen Oaks during Tuesday’s snowstorm, officials said.

On March 14 at 2:25 p.m., a 56-year-old woman was found unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head and a gun in her hand in a parked car near the intersection of Union Turnpike and 246th Street, within the confines of the 105th Precinct, officials said.

Authorities pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Police have not yet released her identity; the New York Daily News reported that she was a retired police officer.

The city medical examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy. An investigation is ongoing.
