Detectives arrested two Queens men on Thursday for allegedly shooting and killing a 28-year-old man in South Jamaica over a double-parked car during the Memorial Day weekend last month, police reported.
Law enforcement sources identified the suspects as 52-year-old Michael Myers and 53-year-old Brady Hollenquest; they live across the street from each other on the same block of 140th Street.
The shooting was reported to police at 11 p.m. on May 27, and officers from the 113th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a male shot at the corner of 140th Street and 120th Avenue — a short distance from the suspects’ homes.
Upon arriving at the location, officers found Noel Samuels of 197th Street in Hollis with a gunshot wound to his head. Responding EMS units rushed the man to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the New York Daily News, Samuels was shot after getting into an argument with the two suspects over a double-parked vehicle.
The investigation eventually led detectives to Myers and Hollenquest, both of whom were charged on June 8 with second-degree murder and manslaughter. Hollenquest faces additional charges of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of narcotics, tampering with physical evidence and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Both Myers and Hollenquest have prior arrest records, according to reports; Myers was released from prison in 2010 after serving 22 years for a 1988 manslaughter, while Hollenquest has three prior robbery convictions.
