Astoria movie theater to offer $1 tickets for children’s movie screenings all summer long

One Astoria movie theater will allow movie lovers a ride on the Summer Movie Express as they sell $1 movie tickets to children’s movies from July to August.

UA Kaufman Astoria Stadium 14, located at 35-30 38th St., will screen 18 movies for $1 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a portion of proceeds going to the Will Rogers Institute. The organization funds medical research of cardiopulmonary diseases and purchases neonatal ventilator equipment for medical facilities across the country.

The Summer Movie Express Initiative begins on July 4 and July 5 with screenings of “Kung Fu Panda 3” and “Ice Age: Collision Course.”

On the following Tuesday and Wednesday, UA Kaufman will screen “Trolls” and “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.” Other movies include “Rio 2,” “The Secret Life of Pets,” “Kubo and the Two Strings,” “Happy Feet Two,” “The Spongebob Movie” and more.

The initiative will end on Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 with screenings of “Storks” and “The Lego Batman Movie.” All movies will start at 10 a.m.
