Come on out this Saturday with the family for a day of learning and adventure from your local heroes.

The FDNY has recently announced that they will be hosting a summer block party in all five boroughs for the third consecutive year. The first one takes place right here in Flushing on Saturday, July 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The summer block party will be at EMS Station 52, located at 135-16 38th Ave. All ages are invited to partake in this event, from young children to seniors. Free fire and life safety education will be offered by FDNY members to all in attendance.

Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro says that this is a wonderful opportunity to “Learn about the rewarding careers with the department, as well as receive critical fire safety education and free CPR training.” Not only will the FDNY offer free fire and life safety education, but they will hold demonstrations and tours of their equipment and machinery.

Children in attendance may also have the chance to meet FDNY fire and life safety mascots, Hot Dog and Siren.
