Resorts World Casino New York City will unveil plans for its expansion project at a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday.

The project will include a new hotel, additional gaming space and a variety of dining, entertainment and retail experiences, according to a release from Resorts.

The president of the RWNY, Scott Molina, and Queens civic and elected officials will deliver remarks at the event, located at Resort World in South Ozone Park.

State Sen. Joseph Addabbo Jr. (D-Howard Beach), whose district includes the casino complex, will be at the groundbreaking.

Addabbo said the expansion will be an “opportunity to improve upon the existing neighborhood,” as well as a chance to create jobs and revenue as Resorts becomes a destination for everyone from adults to children, who aren’t presently permitted at the site.

He explained that the first phase of the expansion will consist of constructing the hotel for the next 18 months. The official size of the hotel and other budgetary details will be disclosed Thursday.

Addabbo added that throughout the five years that the casino has been open, it has proven to be a “good neighbor” by meeting with him at least once a month and working with the community.

He said has no doubt that the project will “reach its maximum potential and bring better days ahead for neighborhood and state.”

In terms of any inconveniences that the construction might cause the residents in the area, Addabbo said it will “only be temporary” and that anyone with complaints can call his office so that he can relay the message.
