Here are some tips for creating a warm, industrial living space

One of our favorite looks is the industrial look. Combinations of steel, brick and wood in contemporary shapes hint to an earlier time and place. We can see these pieces in an industrial loft, a modern apartment, a more traditional home and retail and office spaces. We’ve previously written about using brick-look tile to achieve the industrial look; today we’ll look at an exciting new metal-look industrial tile collection.

From reclaimed wood to salvaged hardware, industrial looking furniture and accents are setting the tone for today’s causal decor. The look also reflects the movement of Americans to look back on history and appreciate the workmanship, materials, styles and finishes that were the hallmarks of our country.

It used to be that industrial wasn’t even a style. But somewhere along the way, we began to appreciate its lack of pretension and the visual appeal that lies within these designs. It has exploded into a trend that shows no signs of waning, and these days, you’re as likely to find industrial décor within the walls of a million-dollar home as in a converted loft in a gritty part of town.

Meet Urban Industrial

Structured, corroded, dented and dulled. Urban Industrial creates a revolutionary metal look that is aggressive and uncompromising. This distinctive tile collection recalls the anti-slip finish of stage construction materials in a reinterpreted diamond plate texture (Boss finish); while the companion wall tile features the look of erosion caused by water dripping from metal. The collection is equally at home in commercial and residential applications. Click here to see more photos and a movie of the Urban Industrial collection.
