Exclusive: Manhattan woman gives $2,300 to Corona church to replace stolen instruments
A philanthropist from Manhattan’s Upper East Side was watching the news last Saturday and saw surveillance video of a thief breaking into a Corona church, reportedly stealing musical instruments valued at $2,300.
It was then that 64-year-old Boo Grace began planning a trip to Queens.
She contacted TimesLedger Newspapers to learn more about the case and the name of the church.
As a result, Grace met with Pastor Juan Carlos Suero and presented him with a check to cover the expense for new instruments.
“She helped us so much,” Suero said. “We have the money to buy new equipment. She’s a lovely person. Just wonderful.”
Boo Grace was happy to help.
Sunnysiders rally at building filled with Nazi, racist images
Residents of a Sunnyside condominium have been terrorized in their own homes and subjected daily to Nazi and racist images in their lobby, according to City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer.
Equally disturbing, is that the names of Nazis Josef Mengela and Rudolph Hess have mysteriously been listed in the building’s directory.
Dozens of community leaders and elected officials joined tenants of the building for a rally, protesting against the building’s property manager Neal Milano, who Van Bramer said has been harassing residents for years.
The property manager’s attorney stated that Milano is currently out of the country on an extended vacation, and said that the images were only being displayed in a spirit of patriotism.
State Sen. Michael Gianaris also commented on the issue.
“We like to think we’re in a safe haven here in New York. But, unfortunately, these things are happening right here in our very own community, as well,” he said.
